Planning your Birmingham to Zanzibar journey
If you are starting in the Midlands, compare the cost of reaching Birmingham with any alternative UK airport you can realistically use. Compare the full itinerary from Birmingham, including the connection and arrival date, against any alternative UK departure.
For beach holidays, compare the whole holiday timetable; a lower flight fare may add an extra overnight stay. Availability depends on the travel dates, cabin and number of passengers. We’ll confirm the operating airline, connections and fare conditions in the quote before you decide.
Arriving in Zanzibar
Abeid Amani Karume International Airport serves Zanzibar. Confirm your arrival date and arrange transport appropriate to your accommodation.
If you are combining the island with mainland Tanzania, leave time between independently booked services.
Before you leave Birmingham
Plan your journey to Birmingham by rail to Birmingham International followed by the airport link, coach or road. Allow time between arriving at Birmingham International station and reaching the terminal, especially with family luggage.
Use the check-in and bag-drop deadlines shown by your operating airline. If your flight leaves early, compare the first transport services with the time you actually need to be at the airport.
Connections, baggage and your return date
Compare the total travel time, transit airport and local arrival date. If more than one airline is involved, ask whether the flights are on one through ticket, whether checked bags transfer, and what arrangements apply if a connection is missed. Separate bookings need a different assessment from a through itinerary.
Tell us the number of checked bags you need, whether you can move your travel dates and whether there is a fixed arrival deadline in Zanzibar. For a family booking, compare the total price for all travellers, including any seating or luggage charges.
Documents and booking checks
Entry and transit conditions depend on your nationality and route. Check current GOV.UK foreign travel advice and the relevant authorities before buying a restrictive fare. Confirm names against passports, read the fare conditions and check what protection applies to your actual booking.
An enquiry is a request for options. It does not reserve a seat, guarantee a fare or issue a ticket. We’ll explain the itinerary and price before you choose whether to proceed.
